Up and to your left, on the electricity wires, is where we are a test site for UKPN – who run the electricity grid. The gizmos on the wires, plus the box on the pole with the solar panel, are UKPN testing some new gear which is supposed to monitor if trees touch wires and allow them to intervene early, rather than dealing with it when the wires come down. The box on the pole is talking, via the satellite, to a control centre.
