Learn all about this remarkable material which has been used since antiquity for making cordage. Get hands on with stripping the bark from pollarded small leaved lime grown at the farm, some of which will be yours to take away to ret at home. We’ll talk through the retting process and then use some of last year’s fibre to make your own lengths of cordage. We will also have a go at dyeing some of the lime bast with other tree dyes to have a variety of colours and have the chance to make a small wooden carving with the left over wood.
All materials included. Please bring a packed lunch and your own knife/carving tool if you wish.
