Whether you are a complete beginner or have some experience in woodworking, our 1-Day Introduction to Pole-Lathe Turning course is designed for anyone wanting to learn the fundamentals of bowl turning. Throughout the day, you and your group will learn how to use a traditional pole lathe and hook tools to turn a wooden bowl blank into a beautiful and functional bowl. The course covers essential techniques, including selecting the right wood, preparing a bowl blank*, and mounting it onto the lathe.
Jon will be demonstrating his craft and selling bowls made from Italian Alder grown at Wakelyns and felled in 2025 during Agroforestry Open Weekend (17-18 May) and then running courses at Wakelyns during the year as listed below
