Guest chefs will be preparing dishes Wakelyns (booking fee includes samples). Live music and real ale bar.

The Gebeta team (Leather Lane, London) will be making delicious Ethopian meals (inc vegan) based on veg grown by @wakelynsveg2

@silva.wakelyns will be making flatbreads from YQ population wheat (developed at Wakelyns) in our wood-fired oven and serving up delicious dal-inspired food, cakes and other treats.⁠

From some of the chefs:

Ayehsa: "This dal reflects my heritage and life experiences. My mother, who was from the coast of Kenya, used to make dal with coconut milk when I was a child. It is accompanied by a Sri Lankan 'pol sambol', a spicy coconut relish."

Susanne & Sariff: Their food is based on the Mascarene Islands, Mauritius and the neighbouring East Africa Islands. Red Lentil Coconut and Spinach Soup has its basis in a plain Mauritian lentil soup my father used to cook.

Laxmi: Mine’s a traditional simple Gujarati dish which we would normally make with moong daal. It is traditionally eaten with ‘bhakri’ – like a thicker roti, similar to a paratha.

Nina: " I love Gujarati Surati Dal because of its wonderful balance of sweet and sour flavours."

Janus chose his dish as it reminded him of the many years he spent in West Asia.

Josiah: My friend Grace Regan shared this recipe with me. In turn, she was given it by Meera, the cook at an Ayurvedic hospital in Kerala.

Tamiru (Gebeta) "The history of Ethiopian cuisine is influenced by the agricultural heritage of the nation. A key component of tradition is injera – a tangy and soft flatbread crafted from teff, an ancient grain native to Ethiopia. In dining settings, injera is commonly paired with an assortment of wot dishes featuring vegetables, legumes, and meat; one type, doro wot, a spicy chicken stew accentuated with berbere"

And of course our regular favourites: Adam and Emma from Willow Phoenix @willowphoenix.norfolk will be running one of their special courses: Norfolk Baskets this time.

And then in the evening from 6pm: Wakelyns Music Suppers including a lovely meal (sourdough pizza fresh from the wood-fired oven and lovely pudding) round the fire from @silva.wakelyns, live music from Kimberley Moore & friends @kimberleymooremusic (curated by @sonicwaveney with support from Arts Council England) the Wakelyns real ale bar, and dancing!

Often described as having the voice of an angel, Kimberley Moore is a prolific singer-songwriter whose lyrical and thought-provoking songs, accompanied by her guitar and ukulele, grapple with the mundane of everyday life in her quirky and comically sensitive style. Originally from the depths of Suffolk, Kimberley is now a force on the Norwich music scene. We are looking forward to having her on the Wakelyns Farmyard Stage.

Broken Folk are an improvised platter of music and poetry that knows no bounds, an audio feast for the senses featuring pianist virtuoso Will Fergusson, percussionist extraordinaire Les Chappell and the group’s frontman multi-instrumentalist poet Jason Parr. Expect vibes reminiscent of Tom Waits meets Thelonious Monk meets Billy Bragg and everything in between!

Come and visit Wakelyns 16-17 May 2026.

In 2021 we at Wakelyns initiated Agroforestry Open Weekend with 6 participating farms. It's grown every year. It’s a bit like Open Gardens or Open Studios – each farm opens for visitors for some of the weekend 15-18 May 2026 – see www.agroforestryopenweekend.org

Meanwhile – come and visit us at Wakelyns! For Agroforestry Open Weekend 2026, we will be open on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 May.

Come and have a look round and learn about all that we are doing at Wakelyns including with the WakelynsVeg horticulture team and Adam & Emma from Willow Phoenix (join in making willow swallows).

There’ll be fun stuff for kids and, of course, delicious food all weekend from the Nicola and Lindsay – Silva Kitchen and Bakery at Wakelyns; and of course the Wakelyns Real Ale Bar will be open.

Paul J, our long term expert arborist, will be leading ‘taster’ tree walks during each day introducing you to everything arboricultural at Wakelyns.

Harry, from Wakelyns Nature, will be doing nature walks

Claire will enthuse you about the Contemporary Hempery project at Wakelyns.

The team from the Organic Research Centre who will be explaining their work at Wakelyns

We are also now showcasing the Wakelyns Tree Stories produced by Paul Jackson and ORC’s Will Simonson: follow the Tree Story Trail!

There is no admission charge but we need to regulate the numbers and the flow so booking with time slots is essential please. Don’t just turn up!

If you’re booking for one of the one hour taster walks, please also book your timed arrival as well. Spaces for the one hour taster walks are very limited so advanced booking is recommended. You can pay and join on the day if there are still spaces.

Delicious food will be available all weekend from the team at Silva Kitchen and Bakery at Wakelyns.
