Agroforestry Open Weekend 2025

Visit Wakelyns 17 or 18 May!

Agroforestry Open Weekend now in its 5th year!
In 2021 we at Wakelyns initiated Agroforestry Open Weekend with 6 participating farms, mostly near Wakelyns in East Anglia. For 2025 we have over 40 across the UK and beyond (including Finland and Costa Rica). So everyone should have an opportunity to visit an agroforestry site near home! It’s a bit like Open Gardens or Open Studios – each farm opens for visitor for some of the weekend 16-19 May 2025 – see www.agroforestryopenweekend.org

Meanwhile – come and visit us at Wakelyns!
For Agroforestry Open Weekend 2025, we at Wakelyns will be open on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 May.

Come and have a look round and learn about all that we are doing at Wakelyns including with the WakelynsVeg horticuture team and Adam & Emma from Willow Phoenix.

There’ll be fun stuff for kids and, of course, delicious food from the Wakelyns Bakery.

Paul J, our long term expert arborist, will be leading ‘taster’ tree walks during each day introducing you to everything arboricultural at Wakelyns (info below about all day tree walks).

Paul W will be around to talk about the practical side of farming with agroforestry.

Harry, from Wakelyns Nature, will be doing nature walks

Claire and Kitty will enthuse you about their Contemporary Hempery project. Gill will show you how she looks after the wild bees at Wakelyns.

The team from the Organic Research Centre who will be explaining their work at Wakelyns, including how we are now (through them) part of an EU wide project studying the long term impacts of agroforestry at 8 of the most established sites across Europe.

And, new for 2025, David Wege will be doing taster tracking walks.

And Jon Baily will be demonstrating traditional bowl turning, selling bowls turned from Italian Alder grown at Wakelyns and trying to tempt you to sign up for one of his Bowl Turning Courses at Wakelyns.

Admission is free.

For information about how to get to Wakelyns click here.

There is no admission charge but we need to regulate the numbers and the flow so booking with time slots is essential please. Don’t just turn up!

If you’re booking for one of the one hour taster walks, please also book your timed arrival as well.

Spaces for the one hour taster walks are very limited so advanced booking is recommended. You can pay and join on the day if there are still spaces.

Delicious food will be available all weekend from the team at Silva Kitchen and Bakery at Wakelyns.
