Claire and Kitty from The Contemporary Hempery are growing hemp in these alleys in 2024.
They started with one alley in 2022 and have expanded from there. They want the hemp fibre to fabric.
We are also hoping to be able this year to make use of the ‘shiv’ or core of the hemp stalks – we have a collaboration with staff and students from Central St Martin’s College of Art.
we also now use the hemp as a natural suppressor of weeds within our organic rotation.
