At Wakelyns we have a number of unusual and renewable heating and energy systems including a 10kw solar PV array, ground source heating for our teaching/seminar area, a biomass boiler which uses copiced and then chipped willow and hazel from our agro-forestry tree lines to heat the house and water, and a continental-style storage heater wood burner.
In 2023 we have installed three 7kW Haier air source heat pumps so that we can warm places like the bakery and cow shed as efficiently and in the most-climate friendly way that we can
