Welcome to Silva Kitchen & Bakery at Wakelyns
Our Story
Based at Wakelyns Agroforestry in Suffolk, we cook and bake amongst the trees, crops, and wildlife of one of the UK’s pioneering agroforestries.
Lindsay Wright is a cook, miller, teacher, and baker, rooted in a long family heritage of baking and accomplished cooks. Working with UK‑grown, organic, genetically diverse grains, including the renowned YQ wheat developed at Wakelyns, Lindsay champions nutrition, locality, and short, sustainable food chains.
Nicola Hordern is a chef, baker, and cheesemaker whose experience spans London’s restaurant kitchens to two successful Suffolk restaurants, an organic micro‑bakery, and the art of raw milk cheesemaking. Her work at Silva focuses on creating food that is ethical, nourishing, and accessible to everyone.
Together, Lindsay and Nicola connect the field and the table through careful craft, community engagement, and a belief that diversity, in grain, ecosystem, and people, makes life richer and food more meaningful.

Pre-Order
We use Open Food Network for pre-orders, allowing you to order in advance for collection at any of our events or pop-ups. Open Food Network supports independent growers, bakers, makers, and small-scale food systems by connecting communities directly with local producers. Using the platform helps us reduce waste, prepare more thoughtfully around seasonal ingredients, and support a more transparent and community-led approach to food.
Products are also available at The Wakelyns Carport. During the summer season (May to September) The Carport is filled with all sorts of delicious produce and wonderful crafts created by the Enterprises at Wakelyns. Silva keeps The Carport filled with bread, granola, pasta sauces, baked beans, stews, plus all of our preserves. During busy event weekends we will stock the fridge with butter, milk, yoghurt, and cheese including plant-based options. An ideal way to stock up for a stay in The Farmhouse or Ley Alley Pods.
