Whilst the majority of the alleys between the treelines here at Wakelyns rotate seasonally, these two alleys are an exception. Stewarded by Jo and Tim of Wakelyns veg, these alleys present a rotation within a rotation. Here, crop rotation occurs on a section-by-section cycle, counterclockwise within the two alleys. This ensures that, each year, crops are grown in new locations preventing pests and diseases from accumulating in the soil. Green manure, or fertility building crops are also incorporated within the system to ensure each section has four years in production and two in rest.
