Short for propagation, our prop. house is the heart of the garden. The polythene covering acts as a greenhouse, while the mesh ends serve to allow air-flow. On one side we have two heated propagators, allowing us a head-start early in the growing season for our tomatoes and chillies etc. Seeds are sown in modules and raised under careful supervision until they are ready to be planted out in our beds. Fixed to the outside of the structure, is a rain water capturing system. On either side, guttering channels rainfall into three large tanks. This is then pumped, via a hosepipe, to our thirsty seedlings. Rainwater capturing systems are an excellent way of harnessing our most precious resource – and reducing those bills!
